Yep, this is an ox tongue. Appetising huh? Well, turns out if you boil it, then wrap it up into a tight coil and brine it, the tongue is transformed. Well, not in looks so much I have to say, but is surprisingly delicious served in thin slices with relish, cheese and some delicious home-made bread.
Trust me. I tried it. I resisted, but I did. If you shut your eyes, tell yourself you’ve paid for these types of experiences, well turns out it actually tastes pretty good.
Anyone want me to make it for them when I get home?!
my favourite meal of all time was Raw Cows tongue (Osaka, Japan – “cooked” by soaking in citrus juices but nothing else). Would love to have it again!
